Letter to the minister of jucstice His Excellency the Minister of Justice Captain Chakib Crdobawi esteemed The Khiam Rehabilitation Center for Victims of Torture draw your attention to the fact that Lebanon was signed in late 2008, the Optional Protocol to the UN Convention against Torture, under which Lebanon is that the formation of the national preventive mechanism to prevent torture year after its signing. Despite the effort made by the Ministry of Justice, but the former Lebanon fails to form a preventive mechanism for three years did not meet its international obligations, and that Lebanon was delayed for ten years to submit its report on torture to the Committee against Torture at the United Nations. Despite the announcement of Lebanon in the sixteenth session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva on 17/3/2011 readiness to form a national preventive mechanism to prevent torture, but the ministerial statement of your government esteemed ignored the recommendations approved by the Lebanon before the highest authority for human rights in the world.
