Khiam center activities in Geneva, 21th session og HRC Khiam Center activities parallel to the Human Rights Council in Geneva about human rights violations in the Middle East and North Africa On the sidelines of the 21 th session of the Human Rights Council at the UN headquarters in Geneva, Khiam Rehabilitation Center for Victims of Torture will organize a parallel activities for the session at the UN headquarters. On 18 September and on the eve of the universal periodic review report Bahrain KRC and the International Federation for Human Rights and the Cairo Institute for Human Rights Studies and CIVICUS organizes a workshop on the state of human rights in Bahrain, speaks in this event will be: Mary Khawaja president of the Bahrain Center for Human Rights, Dr. Roula al-Saffar President of the Nurses Association in Bahrain (former detainee), Dr. Nada Daher, president of Bravo, Mrs. Farida Ghulam represented KRC (wife of the President of the Waed Association prisoner Ibrahim Sharif), Mr. Abdullah Hussein on behalf of Bahrain Workers Union. The workshop will be held at the UN headquarters in room XXII second time until four in the afternoon. On 20/09/2012 KRC organize also a parallel workshop on the human rights situation in the Middle East and North Africa, speakers at the workshop will be representatives of centers for the rehabilitation of victims of torture and human rights defenders from Palestine, Bahrain, Iraq, Morocco, Kuwait, Tunisia and Sudan. Workshop run by the secretary-general of khiam Center Mohammed Safa and held in Room XXIV of the second to the fourth in the United Nations headquarters. Also the center provided four documents to the 21 th session and adopted as official documents: - A document on the Lebanese kidnapped in Halab, kidnappings and anti-kidnapping. - A document titled: Bahrain prison for human rights defenders - A document on human rights defenders in UAE - The document entitled the freedom to Nabeel Rajab Safa will chaired as secretary general of the Aman Network, the regular meeting of the network, which includes representatives of centers and associations of Palestine, Bahrain, Iran, Morocco, Sudan, Kuwait, Tunisia and will elect a new general secretariat and provide reports about the conditions of the Arab countries. The delegation will also meet network of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights to view escalating of human rights violations in the region. |
