Annual report for the year 2013 Khiam rehabiliation center for victims of torture Report for the year 2013 Medical, social and psychological work: During the year 2013, Khiam Rehabilitation Center for Victims of Torture continue its work on the follow-up activities, the usual social, psychological and medical visits for our target group done by our staff , and we cover most of the Lebanese regions (North - Beirut - South),we also received cases in Beirut center\ Cornish Al Mazeraa and in Beit Al Asir Al Loubnany/Der Seryan, in addition to the assistance ,especially from a medical point, for some Syrian refugees in more than one area of Lebanon, also the work and follow what is going on all Lebanese prisons, and these services was distributed like following: Medical, psychological and social was for 484 cases (128 cases which benefited directly and 356 indirectly), and socially we have filled applications for 61 new cases (Lebanese prisoner - Syrian refugees – violated women cases). On the psychological level: The center organize 5 psychological meetings for the mothers of disappearance supervised by three psychologists, addressed several topics, and benefited from it 14women, also we held 5group sessions and 5 individual sessions for mothers of 3 missing in every meeting. Date Nb 28-2-2013 12 7-3-2013 20 30-4-2013 7 28-11-2013 8 28-6-2013 10 Total 57 New Applications: In this year we have filled 61 new applications distributed like following: Type of application Israeli prisons Lebanese prisons Syrian refugees Violated cases Nb of applications 21 8 29 3 Table (8) The percentage of cases that suffer from chronic diseases during the year 2013 in all regions of Lebanon: From our work during this year the results show that there are 19 species of chronic diseases afflicting the cases of both the families of missing or the prisoners in Lebanese prisons and their families, while the number of cases that are suffering from these diseases was 63 cases, were distributed among the percentage of each disease as follows: The table below shows the percentage of each of the diseases afflicting cases, it has occupied the mothers of missing the bulk of the cases that suffer from hypertensions (17.46%) and Cholesterol (4.76%), as well as CHD and it goes back to the mental state who due the state of anticipation and fear and anxiety on the fate of their children, either prisoners in Israeli jails majority of them suffer from Arthritis (17.46%) and gastritis (14.28%) and it is caused by years of detention and torture they suffered and the lack of eating, drinking and lack of medical care ... and some them and their families of the elderly suffer from Migraine (14.28%) and a percentage of children suffering from bronchitis (3.17%).....
